Designing for Impact to Bring Neglected Diseases Into the Global Spotlight
Strategic storytelling and bold visual campaigns to drive awareness, advocacy, and engagement for global health initiatives.
Leading the creative vision for global health awareness campaigns, I spearheaded the content design and strategic development for internationally recognized disease days, such as World NTD Day (2023 & 2024). These initiatives, identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) and significant health advocacy institutions, provided a platform to elevate awareness and drive engagement around neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). My role extended beyond execution—I ensured that each campaign evolved visually and strategically from previous years, reinforcing these global health challenges’ urgency and human impact. For the 2024 campaign, I recorded patient audio stories paired with images.
To enhance engagement, I pushed visual storytelling beyond standard awareness materials. I introduced a fresh creative direction, prioritizing authentic narratives, personal patient stories, and fieldwork visuals rather than relying solely on statistics. This approach humanized the work, making it more emotionally compelling and action-driven. Over my tenure, I have art-directed and designed more than 60+ campaign assets, including digital graphics, motion content, infographics, social media activations, and print materials. My goal was to create assets that resonated across cultures and demographics, ensuring accessibility and engagement across diverse global audiences.
With over one billion people worldwide affected by NTDs, these campaigns carried a crucial responsibility to inform and inspire action. Through thoughtful, creative strategy, campaign design, and multi-platform storytelling, I positioned each campaign as a catalyst for advocacy, driving increased awareness and stakeholder engagement. By aligning messaging with robust, visually distinct designs, I ensured that these campaigns elevated DNDi’s mission and contributed to a broader global dialogue on neglected diseases and health equity.
